Private Investigation Advanced

Teresa is a legal private investigator who initially specialised in Miscarriages of Justice cases and proceeded to dealing with corporate legal investigations. She has over 10 years experience in Private Investigations.

Teresa is a graduate of the Law Department at the College of Law, London. She graduated with an Honours LLB in 2005. She since completed in Postgraduate Diploma in Criminology and Criminal Psychology and obtained a Masters Degree from University of Portsmouth.

She is currently pursuing a PhD in law specialising in interdisciplinary disciplines in the criminal justice system.

    This chapter will arm you on non-restricted and restricted sources of information in aiding the investigator to locate persons and the methods of gathering information, and the ethical concerns that apply to their use.

    Surveillance, static and moving

    Stationary Surveillance, surveillance used to observe the activities of a stationary target. Moving Surveillance and team surveillance, this chapter discusses the use of moving surveillance including, cars, bikes, and also foot surveillance. Pretexts and Cover Stories, this module deals with how to pretext legally and the use of pretext, so that your client is always 100% safeguarded.Preparation & Techniques, equipment used in surveillance, surveillance using covert (hidden) cameras, long range lenses on DSLR’s and on board cameras on bikes or in cars.Issues and practical precautions in surveillance, and how to avoiding compromising the investigation.

    Missing Persons

    This chapter will deal with the reasons why p. From teenage run away’s to debtors and “gone away’s”, how to trace missing persons, you will be trained in the psychological reasoning in finding missing persons, from the forensic psychology side of tracing .i.e. old habits never die, and hobbies rarely change to the person not actually missing at all, merely gone away for a break having not told anyone.

    Process Serving

    This chapter will discuss Process serving or summons serving, this will also cover the serving of all court documents.

  • Chapter 8

    Matrimonial and Domestic Cases

    Financial due diligence, how to ascertain wealth from personal belongings and property investigations for separation, divorce and maintenance cases. Marital surveillance, do’s and don’ts of marital surveillance, discretion and confidentially, covert surveillance, honey traps etc. Adoption Investigations, how to investigate and locate birth parents and adopted children.

    Counter Surveillance

    How to detect if surveillance is being carried out. Counter surveillance, (conducting surveillance on an
    operative carrying out surveillance on you) Different types of surveillance used in counter surveillance. De-bugging
    of home, phone, office or business

  • Chapter 10

    Commercial Espionage

    This chapter will give you the insight you need to identify areas of Vulnerability within a company or business structure It will also inform you on classification of offenses in espionage, what to look for, how to detect and stop shadow employees and identify shadow invoicing. How to scan computer, handhelds or electrical equipment for
    bugs or keystroke software. Cybercrime investigations and detection of virus and hacking
    attempts by black/grey hats.

    Statement Taking and Reporting

    This chapter will deal with the format which your report should take, the format for a court ready and legally enforceable court report. This chapter will also deal with interviewing witnesses, and taking statements in legal format. You will be given sample statements for your records.

  • Chapter 12

    Fraud and Theft Investigation

    This chapter will deal with the investigation of Investigating of theft, whether it is workplace pilfering or property theft. You will also learn about debt collection, the laws relating to harassment in debt collections and legislation pertaining to both. Lastly, the psychology of fraud will be used in sample cases to
    show the reasons people commit theft and fraud.

  • Chapter 13

    Accident investigations

    This chapter deals with investigating accidents scenes, interviewing witnesses and tracing witnesses
    who have given statements but not forwarding addresses etc. You will also be shown the basics of accident reconstruction and graph making; how to photograph and measure the scene accurately, how to identify relevant and non relevant information, how to construct an accident scene report. You will be given sample accident reconstruction templates for your own start-up.

    Public record searches, including all of the sources which are open to the public and publicly accessible and a valuable source of information.

    How to open your own business.The legal practicalities in opening a business. Sole trader v partnership v company registration. Advantages and disadvantages of all organization types. How to advertise, (free and paid) How to obtain customers and keep them, loyalty, discretion and confidentiality in the business place, Data Protection and customer’s information. What you can do without being registered with Data Protection. Taxes and Revenue information
    Registering a business name or company.
